I’m going to be honest with you: It’s rough out here for freelance writers these days.
Early this year, I lost my two biggest writing clients, who collectively accounted for a majority of my income last year. Put another way: A majority of the income I was expecting in 2026 has vanished.
Which is, well, a little terrifying. But I’m taking it as a sign from the universe: It’s time to go all-in on Finocchio. This is no longer a side-hustle. This is the main thing.
I’ve got big dreams for this Finocchio universe that go way beyond a simple newsletter. I’m talking about juicy, slutty retreats in Italy. 🥵 I’m talking about more events that build deep, lasting queer community. 🌈 I’m talking about a gorgeous photo studio that helps us feel free in our bodies. 📸 And yes, I’m talking about more ambitious storytelling here in the newsletter. 🤓
But to do that, I need to earn a lot more money from this. That’s just the honest truth. Currently, I make about $155 a month from Finocchio: not nearly enough to pay my rent in Milan (or anywhere, for that matter).
And the best way for me to earn more from Finocchio is through paid subscribers.
Introducing: The Finocchio Fund Drive 💅🏻
For the next week, I’m going all-out to turn Finocchio into a financially-stable business venture. My goal is to roughly double the number of paid subscribers I have, by adding 29 new paid subs. (If you’re doing the math, that’s still not enough to pay my rent, but it’s a start).
This is very ambitious, I know. But I truly think we can pull it off, together. Here’s how you can help.
