I have one of those chronic illnesses that’s mostly invisible to the outside world: Crohn’s Disease. In short, my gut attacks itself and cause all sorts of fun problems for my digestion.
This would be pose some rather obvious challenges for an aspiring bottom. But my fears around how Crohn’s would impact my sex life went a lot deeper than that. In fact, those fears (and misconceptions) almost held me back entirely from pursuing the gloriously slutty life I have today.

Thankfully, a sweet (and probably straight) doctor intervened before it was too late, and gave me the permission and knowledge I needed to be sexually free.
Even if you don’t have the same illness as me, you might also be struggling with how health impacts your sex life: About a third of us queer folk live with chronic pain of some form, according to a 2026 report.
So, for an article over at Script Health, I spoke with sex-positive health experts to get the best tips for navigating chronic illness and sex. And I’m happy to report: There’s almost always a way to be a big ol’ slut, if you want to.
